Room 5's Birthdays: Nicola

September is the most celebrated in our class, by the way that's when my birthday is.
I don't know why September is celebrated most, maybe the mum had the baby early.

October is the second most popular,
June, July and August are all celebrated with three people each.
January, February and March are all celebrated twice.
December and May ( I love those months ) popular with 2 kids each.
April and November are popular with 1 person each.
Spring is where most of our class kids were born.

Miss Paton says that who ever has birthdays in September or a month near Spring, she said
that we are Spring babies.

My Tapa writing: Nicola

In this picture this, is my Tapa draft design ( If you don’t know how to pronounce Tapa, its Ta - pa )

First I had to draw it on normal white paper, draw the design from a sheet and try to copy it.
I did this one because, to me because it was easy. I am a bit of a good artist, but when it comes Tapa patterns like these, it takes a lot of practice. I think I did the white paper ones three times to get it right.

For steps...

(1) Find a Piece of paper fold it into triangle and cut off the long square.
(2) Draw a grid with three centimetres across and down.
(3) Pick the Tapa Pattern you like and think it looks okay.
(4) Once you've picked the Tapa patten, draw it carefully.
(5) After you drew the patten, shade in the shapes with a pencil.
(6) When you have shaded the parts you thought was right.
(Then our class had to ask our teacher Miss Paton to copy them.)
(7) You can copy yours if you have a copier at your school (That's if you have a school)

Next set of steps...

(1) Find a brown piece of paper.
(2) Then draw the grid - 3 centimetres across and 3cm down and rule lines on the lightly.
(3) Pick the same Tapa pattern you picked for the white paper.
(4) Once you have picked the pattern draw it carefully.
(5) Draw the pattern, shade in the bits with a pencil then a vivid you think would be perfect.
(6) When you’ve shaded the parts that you thought was right copy it if your school has one and if you go to school)

(7) You dye it with brown dye.
(8) Once you have dyed it you use bleach on other bits apart from the dyed parts.
Let it dry... (Our class had to make a Master version)

The Master version is the same one you did before only maybe better or bigger.
I hope you have learnt something from this writing.

My Vitruvian Man:Nicola

During this progress, we all had to trace our feet 10 times and trace our hands 6 times.
I didn’t really realize that this had worked because last year I remember it not exactly
working. I think it was like that to me cause I didn’t do it properly and I did not try. But this year I did try.

Did you know, for a child 10 feet can be a that child’s height?
And 6 hands can be your height and/or both of your arms.

With me it worked by having my feet across both of my arms.
With my hands it was head to toe. Actually it more than my height.

I did not know any of that until now and I tried!
I may not of did it entirely properly but all that matter is that a lot of people and I tried!

Eastern Beach here we come: Nicola

Eastern Beach here we come! On Monday February 27th 2012 our whole entire school dressed in their best mufti (for a sunny day! and a trip). When I woke up I had to get my togs and towel ready for the big day ahead of me. So I had my breakfast and quickly walked to my school. I saw Candice and Kyra, they were really ready for a beach. Wow, I started to see everyone in the school. The bell rang I was so happy and excited because I had no idea what was going to happen. As I walked to class I saw my teacher Miss Paton. She was wearing a bright pink T shirt and shorts! I wondered whether it was her style. When it was time to go I felt as if I needed to pinch myself. Ohh Man! The bus was late! The whole school had to wait around 15 minutes. I wasn't that disappointed because I had Asmah to talk to. A lot of people saw a bus go by, and everyone had thought that it was the bus for us to go to the Beach. Guess what? It turns out it wasn’t ours. (I knew that). At last the bus has arrived! I was so excited to go on it. I haven’t been on one with a CLASS for a long time. I was glad that I got to sit next to Asmah. I got to see the green grass, all of the trees and.... Another school! I thought we’d have the beach to ourselves. Mr Johnston gave some instructions as to “We are not allowed to go past the bathrooms.” Then we could have some morning tea, and play all around! I loved my Marine Mix, it was delicious. Our teacher Miss Paton kept moving to one spot to another, I was like “come on!” Soon I started to climb a tree. I saw my friend, Katareana and I started to talk with her. Finally! It was time to swim only our class had to use life jackets. Oh no, my life jacket didn’t zip up. Miss Paton had tried but maybe not hard enough, Mr Johnston had tried, it worked! Brrrrr! The water was freezing cold! After a long time I got used to the water. Mr Nepia was saying to us “Try to float and kick backwards.” I did. It was like floating on fluffy clouds, although I’ve never felt that before. After a long learning session, all of Room 5 got to swim with out the life jackets. Later on I saw Katareana, my friend. We swam and also talked. It was too salty for me so I got out and got changed, I think I took 10 minutes, but I don’t know why. After I got changed I played with a frizz bee, played Volleyball soon I started to play with another friends bop it, my Katereana came and asked me “ Why did you get out of the water?” I said “ It was too salty” She joined in with Bop it! A lot of kids joined in Manley girls! Mmmn I’m Hungry, I ate the rest of my lunch. I guess all of the girls and I must of spent a long time with the Bop it. Soon it was time to go on the bus. Before everyone left I climbed the tree again. I was doing that before Mr Johnston talked. I then heard Mr Johnston speak his last words. Room by room at a time they went and we went on the bus. When we went Asmah and I heard someone FART! EEW. We went on the bus in the same place. As we got to school our class had to think of some words that best describe the trip we just went on. I has so much fun on the trip!

All about me! Nicola

Hi, this is me in my new class, which is room 5. I'm now a year 6. I'm still at the same school- that's Panmure Bridge School. Those who don't know me, well, I'm ten years old. I'm in a lovely school with heaps of different cultures and that's what makes things really interesting to me. All of my friends are very cool, we have a lot in common with each other, especially my number one friend. Oh, about my teacher, she's a girl, her name is Miss Paton. Miss Paton is good with computers which is what I sort of heard. In class we do all sorts of things, that is why this class is joyful. ( Speaking of Joy, that's my teachers fist name! )

Holiday life: Nicola

This piece of writing was done out of school

Today is Christmas and I got given a few presents, as a result I got........

Yo yo,  Pattern colouring in book,  Sparkly stickers to place on my wall,  my sister Caitlin gave me some of her shoes ( two pairs ),  and a set with headbands called... I’m not sure though &
I think that’s all, and also I got $165 from my family.

I know what the true meaning of Christmas is, It is giving, giving as much as you want or can so
all of theses presents I got from my family were unexpected apart from the money. With all of that money I will spend it on rollar skates, my other thought was an MP3 Player but that can come second.

I reckon I would have a lot of fun on the skates I will buy!!!!!!!
